🌱 Phonics and Structured Literacy

Phonics and structured literacy support for children who are developing their reading and spelling skills. Lessons are tailored to each child's current abilities and learning needs, with an emphasis on building strong foundations through explicit instruction, guided practice and reinforcement.

Phonics class for Kindergarten 2 (K2): Designed for K2 children who are ready to strengthen their early reading skills in preparation for Primary 1.

Lessons may focus on:

• Letter sounds and phonics patterns, using Jolly Phonics as a teaching resource
• Digraphs and other letter combinations
• Tricky words
• Reading words and full sentences
• Developing confidence in early reading

Structured Literacy for Primary school students: Designed for primary school students who need additional support with foundational reading and spelling skills.

Lessons use an explicit, systematic and cumulative approach to help students understand how sounds and letter patterns work together in reading and spelling.

Depending on the child's needs, lessons may focus on:

• Phonics and decoding unfamiliar words
• Spelling patterns and rules
• Word reading and reading fluency
• Applying learned skills through guided reading and spelling practice

My teaching draws on structured literacy principles and Orton-Gillingham-informed methods, with activities and materials adapted to each student's learning needs.

Fees:

• Phonics: $50 per 1-hour lesson.
• Structured Literacy: $105 per 1.5-hour lesson.
